It’s my second year in a row that I’ve requested a flight to NY over Thanksgiving. My experience from last year taught me that’s the best time for sightseeing! Most of the New Yorkers are out of town to visit their families and the usual rush of the city seemed to slow down a bit. But it’s still the city that never sleeps and I was ready for a special Thanksgiving day in New York.
We started the day in SoHo and strolled the streets with its many murals(read about a special heart mural and its location here), walked the empty avenues in Midtown and enjoyed the views in Central Park. We also got tickets for the Top of the Rock for sunset and all I can say about these tourist spots is that they were not so packed as usual. There is always something about holidays and I love this spirit, wether it’s Thanksgiving, Christmas or NYE. People seem to be more happy and grateful and cherishing the moments of being together with their loved ones even if you are traveling and not sitting at the table around the turkey.
I chose a comfy outfit for the day activities, wearing my new Wellensteyn Parka in combugreen. Wellensteyn is a german-based company, specializing in high-quality active wear like parkas and jackets for outdoor activities and they’ve just opened up stores in Boston and Chicago(NY coming soon!) as well. I love the fact, that they use faux fur imported from Korea, which is as expensive as real fur if you’ve known the fact. I’m wearing the Seewolf Lady in XS with RainbowAirtec material, that changes the color of the parka according to the light circumstances. You might see it in the photos. You know how we girls struggle when there’s not enough pockets in the outerwear. No worries with this parka. Stuff the pockets with lip gloss, hand cream tubes and whatever you need. There is plenty of space.
For a dinner appointment I changed into a chic outfit and threw my Wellensteyn Parka in dark red over my shoulders to keep me warm. The length is just perfect for me, as I want to have my hip covered to protect me from the windy cold. You can also adjust the strings to tighten it more around your waist area for a more feminine look. The pocket lines in black already give the parka a slim feminine touch and I love those details a lot. It’s always hard to find a winter parka, where I’m not getting buried in thick material and layers and still look polished, so I’m quite happy about my choice. I’ve already spotted some trendy New Yorkers wearing Wellensteyn parkas. ;)
